This ain't the pinewood type.

Ok, so my wife's cousin was visiting from the St. George area and we were invited to a Roller Derby "bout". Suddenly I was swimming in memories of a mix between WWF wrestling and the Fast and the Furious from the Saturday morning cartoons of my youth. Not wanting to miss the chance to see something new, I quickly accepted. I have to tell you, I now have a new found respect for these ladies. It was really fun to watch and was really quite a controlled sport. Nobody lost an eye and both teams skated hard. It was nothing that I would be scared to bring my kids to, and rather would welcome the opportunity. I think that if men can play backyard football and pull a muscle that they haven't used in years, then why can't these ladies skate and bump around a track without the stigma of being trashy. Most of them seemed like a competitive soccer mom that just wanted to get out an be active in an athletic wvent. And for that I say bravo. Thanks Jenny for broadening my horizons.

A Table for Twenty Four Please!

I want to thank Tom and Beverly for dinner on Friday night. I had one of those rare opportunities to dine at a table for 24 people. Fortunately othere than than Pam trying to steal a pregnant Krissy's dinner, everythinhg went off without a hitch. It was quite impressive that the table severs could keep that many ordrs straight and all the time my drink was never empty. Spending time with a large group of family in public is always an enjoyable experience. Thanks to all who attended.

Fun and games on the Zamboni

Very first I need to thank Nicky (Scott and Tina's sister) for the invite to the Grizzlies game last Friday night. You know us; we are not ones to pass up free tickets to anything! Second, I need to thank Michelle for speaking up and asking questions. Ok here it is for any of you who have no idea what I am talking about. Nicky and Michelle work at a physical therapy office. This office treats any of the members of the Salt Lake Grizzlies hockey team that need physical therapy. By thus doing, they occasionally receive free tickets to the games. Nicky received some free tickets and invited the family to go to the game. The day of the game one of the players was in the office and Michelle asked him how a person is selected to ride on the Zamboni during the period intermissions. On a side note if you do not know, a Zamboni is the giant car...tractor...sled...thingy-ma-jig that resurfaces the ice between periods. Anyway, the player, (who I am very sorry that I do not know the name of), said he would "make some calls." At the end of the physical therapy session he told Michelle that there was an open seat during the second intermission of that same night, and that it was hers. Michelle called and invited Dylan! As most of you know, Dylan is quite a shy kid. Anyway, the long and the short of it is that is how Dylan got to ride the Zamboni pictured here, and how I owe my deepest gratitude to a couple of great sisters in law, (or is that in law twice removed?)
